Reporting on Covid-19 horrors: Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, Amit Dave, the late Danish Siddiqui awarded the Pulitzer

The winners of the Pulitzer Prize 2022 were announced Monday, May 9. The Pulitzer Prize was established in 1917, by the provisions in the will of Joseph Pulitzer, a Hungarian-American journalist. There are 22 Pulitzer categories, and the awards are given to honor extraordinary work in journalism and the arts. In the category of 'feature photography', four photographers, Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, Amit Dave and the late Danish Siddiqui of Reuters​ India were declared winners, for their extensive reportage on Covid-19 outbreak in India

Mattoo works with Reuters as a multimedia journalist. A photojournalist and a documentary photographer based in Kashmir, her work focuses on depicting the realities of a menacing militarised milieu of Kashmir. Her work has been published in newspapers and magazines including the Al Jazeera, TIME and TRT World, and the Caravan. In 2021, Mattoo also became Magnum Foundation’s 'Photography and Social Justice Fellows'.
