A female tiger quenches her thirst on a very hot summer morning at Ranthambore National Park. Tigers prefer to consume large quantities of water at dawn, before retiring for the day. They will have a drink again at dusk, before they become more active.

The photographer, Kairav Engineer, is the vice president of business development at Astral Poly Technik Ltd, and has been fascinated by wildlife since his first trip to Chitwan National Park at the age of two. He has travelled to national parks across India and the world, documenting wildlife, and Ranthambore remains his favourite. He sees tigers here as individuals and has observed them closely for two decades.
