Summer has taken mercury levels to a whole new level, but that has not stopped kids from stepping out and into summer camps. The numbers of kids joining summer camps has not seen a big increase from last year. Across adventure and activity camps, there has been a minor increase of 10 percent in attendance, and an increase of 10-15 percent on costs.

Weight management camps or ‘fat camps’ have reared their head this year, reiterating what many newspapers have been reporting on childhood obesity. Also, three years ago, you commonly heard of a summer camp through posters in your local department store or schools. Today, a simple Google search on summer camps in India throws up a number of organised options. Many more branded, neighbourhood camps have cropped up over the last three years.
