With Biocon’s two biosimilars getting USFDA approvals, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw’s ranking has seen the sharpest surge this year. She moved from No 72 to No 39.

Nisaba Godrej, elevated to executive chairperson of Godrej Consumer Products Limited in May 2017, joined the company in 2007 and has proven herself across departments. Vinita Gupta, who joined her father’s company Lupin in 1993 and became its CEO in 2013, runs the firm along with her brother Nilesh. The Godrej and Gupta family rank at 7 and 59 respectively.

Mallika Srinivasan runs TAFE, started by her father in 1960 and part of the Amalgamations Group. The group is at No 70 on the list.

Leena Tewari, ranked 64 with a net worth of $2.52 billion, is heir to and chairs USV India, set up by her father Vithal Gandhi in 1961. Her husband Prashant runs the company.

The richest individual woman remains the matriarch of the OP Jindal Group; with a personal worth of $8.35 billion, Savitri Jindal is the 14th richest person in India. Jindal is chairperson emeritus of the group, with four sons running various companies in the sprawling empire.
