Artist Floyd A Davis IV of Chicago scavenges vintage cases of all shapes and sizes, from snooker cue boxes to the sort of towering, metal-reinforced thing Kenneth Clarke packs his lunch in. He then converts them into boomboxes, putting in woofers, tweeters and a 3.5 mm audio input, so they’re compatible with your phone or MP3 player.

What you see are a set of 1.4-inch computers from Sifteo that can talk to each other, and on which you can download and play a range of games. Electromagnetic sensors let these blocks detect the location and orientation of its brethren. The games are simple time-passers, quite like Tetris, and not the MMORPGs.
