Though he did not direct a movie in the period under consideration, Karan Johar (45) and his production house, Dharma Productions, produced three films—OK Jaanu, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Ittefaq—in 2017. While the first sank without a trace at the box office, the other two were well-received. But Johar laughed all the way to the bank by being distributor to the Hindi version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which earned ₹511.30 crore at the box office, making it the most successful movie of 2017. He has kick-started the shooting of his next directorial, a segment for Bombay Talkies 2, which stars Masaan actor Vicky Kaushal. Last year, too, Johar hosted his popular talk show Koffee With Karan on which the who’s who of the film industry made an appearance. He has now turned radio jockey, playing the role of a love guru for a radio programme called Calling Karan.
