Legal Powerlist

The foundation of an independent legal system in India started in 1949. Since then, there have been multiple changes and amendments. While many laws have been amended over the decades to keep up with the times, there are many even today which are yet to be fine-tuned to improve the society that we live in. India also lacks a central ecosystem which serves as a one-stop-shop for everything legal—such that an authorized legal database can be created so the data of all the courts, tribunals, committees, articles, acts can be digitally stored. This is where technology becomes indispensable. Technology can help harness the vast swathes of legal data available in the country, and it is only through technology that this gold mine of information can be harnessed to make legal research faster to benefit the fraternity.

It is the stakeholders of our legal fraternity that uphold the law of the land, to maintain the faith in the Indian legal system and a strong civil society as defined by the Indian Constitution. It is to felicitate such individuals of the legal system that Forbes India and Legitquest have joined hands for the 'Forbes India Legal Powerlists 2020'.

The first edition of Forbes India Legal Powerlist 2020 aims to identify and felicitate young lawyers who exemplify distinction, quality service delivery, and those who demonstrate superior leadership, reputation, influence, stature and profile as Indian lawyers. The Legal Powerlist 2020 will general counsel and heads of legal of various private and public institutions, drawn from different sectors in India being nominated, and then short listed through a stringent jury process. They will eventually be felicitated at a grand virtual event in the presence of an august gathering made up of some of the most prominent and powerful names in the legal profession.
