KL Rahul began the year on the wrong foot after he was suspended by the BCCI for "misogynistic" comments on a television talk show Koffee with Karan. But he managed to salvage his reputation with a good show in the IPL, being the highest scorer among Indians and second overall. The 27-year-old shed his underachiever tag during the ODI World Cup, scoring steadily after his elevation to the top with the injury of Shikhar Dhawan. Rahul will now look to consolidate the momentum in the run-up to the T20 World Cup in Australia later in the year.
