Hard Luck The chaps at ArcelorMittal were beginning the work of acquiring land in Jharkhand for their new plant. As part of their effort to build relationships with the tribal population, we hear they had set up a health clinic and brought in a doctor. Evidently somebody out there felt threatened by this move — perhaps, kof, kof, lucrative funding was endangered? — because within a few days, pamphlets were circulated (allegedly by upstanding local NGOs) that said that the clinics’ medicines would make the tribals nampunsak, impotent. Those hardy sons of the forest were not about to take this lying down, and, apparently, created quite a ruckus. Net net: ArcelorMittal continues to look for a suitable place to erect the plant.
