Cricketer Sachin TendulkarImage: Mexy XavierCricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, in association with sports consultancy firm Spartan International, on Monday announced the launch of ‘Sachin by Spartan’, a cricket equipment and sportswear range, which will be available internationally through Spartan’s retail and online stores.

‘Sachin by Spartan’ combines Spartan’s expertise in developing innovative products across a variety of sports – including cricket, football and basketball – with Tendulkar’s insights and eye for detail.
“The game of cricket has given me much more than what I had imagined. I was keen to be a part of safeguarding and protecting the next generation of cricketers where the focus would be safety for players, accessibility and affordability for all,” Tendulkar said at the launch. In July last year, Tendulkar had joined the company, headquartered in Australia, as an investor and member advisory board.
Kunal Sharma, managing director, Spartan Sports, says when it comes to cricket, “nobody knows what it takes to succeed as a batsman better than Sachin himself. So we have taken all his suggestions on board. With his great eye for detail, style and fashion, he was the driver behind the clothing designs and range that has been produced”. As part of the partnership, Spartan International is working with Sachin on his philanthropic initiatives.

The cricket equipment and apparel range have been divided into three collections – Sachin range, Performance line and a premium Sachin Signature edition. It features unique design traits which were used by Tendulkar himself throughout his career to improve both his performance as well as comfort as a cricketer. “I was keen that there be no compromise on quality and I believe that clothing must be stylish and yet comfortable,” adds Tendulkar.
