Mumbai boy Ajinkya Rahane has emerged as one of the most dependable batsmen in the past year. Having announced his arrival with Test centuries against New Zealand and England in 2014, Rahane continued his rich vein of form with hundreds against Australia and Sri Lanka as well as a 98 against Bangladesh in the period under review. In one-day internationals too, he scored over 750 runs in 24 matches at an average of 36.14 in the same period. Rahane also had the privilege of becoming India's 23rd ODI captain when he led the team against Zimbabwe in July 2015.
