It’s hard to imagine Sachin Tendulkar without a cricket bat. That plebian piece of willow, which turned into Thor’s hammer in the hands of the master blaster, has scripted many a tale in the annals of India’s sporting  glory. In a career that spanned 24 years, Tendulkar has been the most capped player as well as the most prolific scorer in the history of the game. His passion for cricket is best captured in the words of his wife Anjali, who admitted on the eve of his retirement, “I can imagine cricket without Sachin but I cannot imagine Sachin without cricket.” ¡ We decided to take the bait and hazard a guess on Tendulkar’s life without cricket. From unknown vignettes of his much-celebrated career, we tried to stitch together a glimpse of his sporting afterlife. The collection that you see here has been curated from a coffee-table book published by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to pay tribute to its brand ambassador. As Brijesh Mehra, Managing Director and Head – International Banking, India and South East Asia, RBS, says, “Sachin himself has selected some of the pictures that he felt would communicate his real persona, without going over the top or getting preachy. Our focus was to cover aspects of his life that were important to him.”
