Vaikom Muhammad Basheer

The freedom fighter, short story writer and humanist from Kerala was a Padma Shri awardee. Rajan, who met Basheer in the early 1960s, was his life-long shadow. Unlike his prose, which is simple and fun, Basheer spent a lot of time in introspection. Rajan’s portraits show him in these quieter moments, a lot like French sculptor Auguste Rodin’s ‘The Thinker’.
