Feet on the ground
Air India is tightening seatbelts and talking tough, and the word is that NACIL will hire a professional CEO to report to CMD Arvind Jadhav. Speaking of CMDs, past incumbents have been notorious for not stirring out of the ivory-coloured Air India building. Not Jadhav. He’s in office by 8.30 a.m., and frequently works up to almost midnight. He also makes surprise visits to the airport incognito: He was spotted in the AI business lounge testing service levels and when he has a flight to catch, rather than pull rank and check in late, he gets in an hour early to check out ops and staff performance. AI might just make it, at this rate.
