Successful new models and the bridging of gaping holes in its product portfolio saw India's largest car maker post its highest-ever sales in volume terms in 2015-16. Its market share also retraced to 50 percent levels. Maruti's foray into the premium segment has been a success. It is also fast shedding its image of a technology laggard, having brought AMT (automated manual transmission) for the first time in the country.
