India's passenger vehicle (PV) sales growth dropped to 7.2 percent in January from December's 26.6 percent, signalling a post-festive slowdown. Urban markets felt the brunt, decelerating to just 2.75 percent from 22.9 percent--the lowest in five months. In comparison, non-metro markets surged 14.4 percent. Rural now commands 40.8 percent share in the PV sales mix, driven by SUV demand and entry-level revivals.
