The Telugu director burst into prominence beyond Tollywood with Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), which had a dream run at the box office nationally and internationally. Made with a budget of ₹180 crore, it is one of the most expensive films ever produced in India. Interestingly, Rajamouli (44) made a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the film. The sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, was a bigger success making Rajamouli a household name. Having started his career as a director of television programmes, Rajamouli is known to helm out-of-the-box projects, be it with Baahubali, which was rich on special effects, Sye (2004), which revolved around a rugby match, or Eega (2012), a fantasy film.
