At the Jaipur Literature Festival, on the 25th January, Jeet Thayil won the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, 2013, for his book Narcopolis. I spoke to him shortly afterwards, about how it felt to win, especially at Jaipur, where things had got controversial last year, about his opera, Babur which could not run in India, and about the book he's working in now.
