The motorcycle magnate along with cousins Shekhar, Niraj and Madhur, added to their wealth despite growth at Bajaj Auto lagging peers. The company, run by son Rajiv, has ceded market share to rivals Honda Motors and the Munjals' (ranked 22) Hero MotoCorp partly because it stopped making its iconic scooters-demand for which has revived. To catch up, Bajaj is betting on its popular Discover bike, recently launching its 150cc version, and expanding overseas; it gets 40 percent of its $3.4 billion revenues, from Indonesia, Mexico and Argentina. They recently sold their 24 percent stake in Force Motors controlled by the Firodia family (ranked 91), their one-time business partner.
