War of Words
Sarah Palin is working hard at staying in the limelight. Her memoir, a 400-page doorstopper, Going Rogue: An American Life, has stirred a hornet’s nest. The would-be Veep has dished up dirt on the tension between her and John McCain’s presidential campaign team. The not-so-bright things she said — like during the debate with Joe Biden, the Democrat’s vice-presidential candidate — she claims were his team’s idea likewise the designer clothes and hairdos. (And she’s pissed about footing the $50,000 bill for the background check that McCain ran on her before he picked her to be his running mate.)
Now here’s the fun part. While Palin was busy writing this book, Richard Kim and Betsy Reed, senior editors at The Nation magazine, were beavering away at Going Rouge: An American Nightmare, which had a similar photo of Palin on the cover. It was released on November 16, a day before Palin’s book hit the stands. Nightmare is a collection of essays on Palin as the title suggests, they aren’t too kind on her.
More fun? See the Web home of Going Rouge — The Sarah Palin Rogue Coloring and Activity Book (released on November 17). It’s full of puzzles and activity pages like “Dress Sarah for Success” and, heaven forfend, “Help Sarah find her way to the White House.”
