Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport on Wednesday. Developed through a public-private partnership between Adani Airports and CIDCO, the Rs 19,650-crore project can handle up to 9 crore passengers and 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo annually. As the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s second international airport, it aims to ease congestion at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and strengthen Mumbai’s position as a global aviation hub.
