2014 Celebrity 100 List methodology: How we crunch the numbers

The Celebrity 100 ranking is based on two parameters: 1) Estimates of entertainment-related earnings for celebrities and 2) estimates of their fame. The period under consideration this year for both was October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014.

How We Calculated Earnings
For each celebrity we got independent estimates from multiple sources—industry insiders, talent management agencies, film and TV production companies, publishers, music industry professionals, sports consultants, advertising agencies, brand marketers, celebrity managers and other relevant experts.

How We Calculated Fame
We tracked their media visibility across print, television and the internet. We tabulated their social media reach. We used Google to estimate their online exposure. Our principal data partners for the Celeb 100 List this year, LexisNexis® , Exceed Entertainment, IOS Sports & Entertainment, GroupM ESP, TAM-Eikona and Galatta helped provide data for celeb endorsements as well fame data on their print and TV exposure. We were also supported by indiantelevision.comtellychakkar.com, radioandmusic.com and Nielsen BookScan for data.

The entire process was verified by Ernst & Young, our official tabulators.

Note:  The ranking in this list is based on estimates of earnings and media visibility of each celebrity across print, television and online media from October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014. The numbers are, therefore, not accurate but merely indicative. We (at Forbes India Magazine, Digital18 Media Private Limited) have done our best to verify the information published, but do not take any responsibility for the absolute accuracy of the information.
