Windmills Craftworks in Bangalore is probably India’s first jazz theatre, microbrewery and design library rolled into one. Located on the fifth floor of a building within Windmills of Your Mind, a residential project by Total Environment, Windmills Craftworks has been founded by architects Kamal and Shibanee Sagar. At a sampling session, a set of eight handcrafted beers was brimming with individuality. Hadouk Trio, a French jazz group, performed their original compositions. Kamal says visitors can expect an international band every two months. On other nights, says CEO Ajay Nagarajan, there will be an in-house band and other outfits from across India. Kamal expects to fill up the shelves on both sides with nearly 10,000 books on art, design and music. Those, he hopes, will bring in people who seek creative stimulation for not just their palates and musical senses, but brains too.
