Tablets @ #FILA2012

At Forbes India Leadership Awards ceremony tonight, some of the best brains in business will give us a glimpse of the future as they see it. Each of the eight speakers will tell us about one big thing that they believe will change everything for everyone. Their talks will be short. Not one will extend beyond three minutes. And in those three minutes, they will question our assumptions, push our thinking, and give us tools to think about future. The theme is #SeeingWhatsNext.We felt we should to offer our guests a tool that’s in sync with this futuristic theme. We knew it had to be real time, it had to be mobile, it should have some social element to it, even while taking into account that they will be sitting in a single room. And of course, a little bit of analytics too. The solution presented itself – an app on a tablet.This is how it will work. We will give tablets (yes, we have arranged for a cart load of tablets for this event) with a pre-loaded app. As each speaker goes on stage, our guests will not only be watching them closely, they will also send an instant feedback, using a simple Like – Dislike button. Yes, it comes close to what we do with our own smartphones or tablets when we witness something interesting. But, here, the reaction from the object of the likes, tweets and comments will be immediate. The event will be moderated by an anchor from CNBC TV18 Suresh Venkat (By the way, did you catch him doing a Gangnam style dance yesterday on his show TechToyz?).
