Always a popular tourist destination, the Turkish city of Istanbul saw a 4.8 percent rise in international travelers visiting the city. More than 12.41 million people visited Istanbul, which has magnificent attractions such as the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and Blue Mosque, to name a few.

"Dubai is the top performer in the region, ranking seventh and seeing continued steady growth in 2015 with 8% increase in inbound arrivals. The city is benefiting from years of extensive investment in state-of-the-art and world-leading infrastructure, luxury shopping, hotels and entertainment," according to the Euromonitor International report.
