Brijmohan Lall Munjal is founder of Hero Group, whose HeroMotoCorp, the nation's largest motorcycle-maker, has lately ceded some ground to rivals such as Honda Motors, its partner of 26 years until they broke off 3 years ago. To counter, sons Pawan and Sunil, who run Hero, are rolling out a dozen new variants of current models in this year's last quarter, the peak festival season. It is also working on producing what could be country's cheapest 2-wheeler. In July it paid $25 million for a 49% stake in its U.S. technology partner Erik Buell Racing. In an overseas expansion, Hero is targeting expansion in Africa and Latin America. Grandson Rahul has been put in charge of Hero Future Energies, a new renewable energy venture.
