Former insurance agent Lachhman Das Mittal joined family's agricultural equipment and supplies business in 1990 and expanded it into $800 million (revenues) Sonalika Group, so named after a variety of American wheat that was popular at one time in India. Its International Tractors, popular in North India, is country's third largest tractor maker, and counts Japan's Yanmar and private equity firm Blackstone as key investors. Group revenues are up on back of good monsoon rains that benefited the agribusiness. Mittal works 12 hours a day and is a fan of Bollywood films.
