Father and son Kapil & Rahul Bhatia control InterGlobe Enterprises, whose IndiGo Airlines continued to gain altitude. The 7-year-old carrier, now country's largest airline and known for its punctuality, reported record profits of $130 million even as rivals notched up losses. It operates 71 Airbus-A320 aircraft and flies to 34 destinations including 5 overseas. Other interests include the Ibis hotel chain, a joint venture with Accor that has 7 hotels and another dozen in the pipeline. Their retail arm has 37 outlets of the U.S.-chain Hudson News & Cafe at Delhi's metro stations. They have partnered with Canadian flight training firm CAE to set up a flight training center in Delhi.
