Founder-chairman of the $1 billion (revenues) Sonalika Group, he gave up a career in insurance to start an agricultural equipment and supplies business in 1969. Today, his International Tractors is the country's third-largest tractor maker with the Blackstone Group as a key investor. Sales were up 28 percent propelling Mittal into the billionaire ranks.
