Riding a buoyant consumer goods market, the brothers, who are the detergent kings of northern India, saw their combined fortune cross the $1 billion mark. Their Kanpur-headquartered RSPL Group's low-cost Ghari detergent competes with Hindustan Unilever's Wheel brand. They recently launched a premium detergent called Uniwash and, in their first international foray, started selling Ghari in Bangladesh. Murli Dhar's son Manoj looks after the dairy business, which sells milk under the Namaste India brand. Another son Rahul, and Bimal's son Rohit, handle operations and marketing.
Fast Fact: The siblings have set up a charitable hospital named after their parents in Kanpur.
