His $2.5 billion (sales) RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group is investing $3 billion over the next three years mostly for expanding its 115-year-old power utility CESC. With 2.8 million customers in eastern India, it has nearly doubled capacity with two new power plants of a combined 1,200 megawatts capacity that are soon to be commissioned. His Wharton-educated son Shashwat, who heads the group's 151-year-old supermarket chain Spencer's, plans to open 100 hypermarkets by 2017.
