The doctor who heads the Manipal Education & Medical Group is credited with exporting Indian education and health care. Manipal has six colleges in Malaysia, Dubai, Antigua and Nepal, and a hospital in Malaysia. Tech tycoon Azim Premji, who had earlier cashed out his personal stake in Manipal Global Education, recently returned as an investor. Private equity firm TPG has bought a 22 percent stake in the company's health care arm Manipal Health Enterprises.
