#Budget2010 : Energy Costs Will go Up

The Rs. 50 per-tonne cess on coal will increase energy costs for power producers and consumers. This will particularly impact the power and steel companies who are major consumers of coal. And given the big ticket projects that have been announced, consumption of coal in India is set to explode. India has now turned net importer of coal and this cess will increase the demand for imported coal.
