Could you outline your vision for reducing pendency in courts in India?
The pendency rate is heavy. We plan to reduce the pendency from 15 years to three years. A National Arrears Grid [which will monitor clearance of pending cases across courts in India] will be put on mission mode. E-courts, evening courts and fast-tracking of cases involving senior citizens, women and children will be done. There should be no cases pending after three years. We are also creating commercial courts within High Courts.
Sir, I saw in the recent news that, in oder to close the lot of pending cases in family court you requested to work on weekends. I welcome that approach. But can you pls first make sure that court is working during week days? Because most of the days advocates are boycotting the court. It affects many lives. I filed divorce case 1.5 yrs back. Hearing date will come once in a month, that date also court will not work. So simply they will give next month one date. Ultimately we are the sufferers.
on Jul 6, 2010Indian men think that they can do whatever they want with their wives and treat them so very badly and when things reach court there too they try to cover up their faults, try to prolong the matter so that the wife suffers as he already has all movable and immovable assets in his hands. Sir my sincere request is see that family court matters settle up in a very short time as women too have their right to live their lives peacefully than be treated brutally by unscrupulous men to meet their selfish needs and amass money at the cost of their wives who r made to slog both at home and after they come home from work.

Men take away all the money and keep the wife always relying on them so in case the wife leaves due to intolerable torture the wife will be on streets while the husbands keep enjoying the amassed wealth at wife's cost. U have rightly said that Indian laws are skewed in favour of men and so court matters r not getting settled up quickly.
on Apr 30, 2010Don't give terrorists the same rights to court trials as citizens. The constitution was written to protect citizens not terrorists. Justice delayed is justice denied. Put strict time limits for each category of trials. Simplify laws remove obfuscation and prevent litigation.
on Jan 20, 2010Welcome measures. Prevention is better than cure. Please appoint a committee to study how litigations crop up. Even stictures passed against officials are not followed up. Lawyers fully knowing, mark falsified documents. I can produce proof for all this. How to prevent it can be of much use.
on Jan 20, 2010Indian laws are skewed in favor of men ? Has the Minister lost his mind ? Over 13 laws have been created specifically for women and not a singlw law exists for men . Over twice the number of Indian husbands commit suicide every year as compared to wives . Who is responsible for the deaths of Indian husbands . India today has a ministry for animal welfare but no ministry for the welfare of men . Save Indian Men today .
on Jan 21, 2010"There are many laws in the country that are in favour of men and put women in a disadvantageous position. We are trying to set that right." Ouch. Mr. Moily is totally out of touch of reality in this case. "Unscrupulous wives " have been misusing the Indian legal system, for their ulterior motives. Can the minister explain the extremely low conviction rate, in case of 498a ? Does he has the guts to say, that these laws are being blatantly mis used by "Unscrupulous wives " ? The answer would be NO. The law is an instrument to harass the honest citizen.
on Jan 23, 2010Mr. Moily, Please quote any law that is in favour of men. My dear Men are only used and abused in your country.
