As per the age old adage, “The doors of opportunity are always open for people who have the vision.” This is absolutely true for people like Jitendra Goyal, a visionary who saw the opportunity beyond the closed minds of people who told him that making doors does not suit entrepreneurs.
“While many laughed at my vision, I knew there was a lacuna in the market. I believed that every person is sentimental about his home and its main door is what makes the first impression. So naturally, one would want the very best door to suit his home, the owner’s personal preferences and budget. That is the belief that pushed me to pursue my dream and Dormak was born,” shared Jitendra Goyal, Founder and Managing Director of Dormak Interio Pvt. Ltd.
Jitendra Goyal saw an immense opportunity in providing value added and premium doors to customers. He established his brand, Dormak, in 2008 with full confidence that his conviction will prove right. He started with a team of 10 people and installed a capacity of production for 3000 Doors per year in a rented place of 1500 Sq mtr.
“In just a couple of years, Dormak became popular due to the premium quality and finish that every Dormak door has. I personally ensured that there was no compromise on quality whatsoever. The progress was faster than even what I had anticipated and in 2010, I established another plant for PVC Membrane doors. Our staff strength also swelled to 50,” shares Goyal.
The demand for Dormak doors kept swelling too and so did the appreciation for the doors’ quality. Goyal soon started an ultra-modern manufacturing plant spread across 12,000 Sq.m. Area with one Hot press and other facilities in 2011. He kept his focus on maintaining quality while expanding the reach of his brand across several states.
“In 2014, we again expanded Dormak’s operations and installed two more presses. This took the total installed capacity to 15,000 doors per year. Our manufacturing unit worked to full capacity and still there was more unmet demand for Dokmak doors. We now had several big customers who were placing repeat orders with Dormak and even booking several months in advance,” says Goyal talking about the growth of Dormak.
Goyal’s dedication to ensuring the most qualitative products earned the brand nationwide recognition. Dormak won the Quality Mark Trust Award in 2015 because of this, and the same year, Goyal decided to start making door frames too. In 2016 he installed a profile wrapping line for door frames and also opened the Brand’s Gurgaon Showroom spread across 2000 Sq feet area. In 2017, Goyal installed a UV Roller and CNC Paint line for Dormak doors and frames. This year also saw the staff strength at Dormak cross 150.
2018 proved itself to be very eventful and saw Dormak win its first export order worth $1 Million. Dormak also crossed the milestone for delivering 1 Million doors to its customers. To take the business to the next level and increase Dormak’s footprint across the country, Goyal also initiated Dormak’s Franchise Network and opened 6 showrooms.
Dormak’s focus products are doors and door frames. It offers all types of engineered doors and door frames and various types of specialty doors including Moulded Panels doors (MASONITE), Designer Veneer doors, PVC profile doors (Membrane doors), Laminated door, Neo classic door (Engineered panel doors), Fire Rated door, Lead line door, Acoustical door, Flush door, Glass vision panel door, Solid wood door frames, and Engineered door frames (CPL/PVC/WPC/LVL/NC/PU).
Dormak does both B2B and B2C sales. Most of its big customers are medium to upper level builders, institutes (Hotel, Hospital, School, College and Industries). Individual house owners who wish good quality doors and trusted quality also find Dormak doors to suit their taste. The brand directly sells to Builders, Projects and end users and also through its vast distribution network. Through distributors they sell to stockists, builders and end users. They also have several showrooms that sell directly to end users and builders. The company’s Sales Network also generates orders from end users in various cities and the company supplies to them.
“I started Dormak with a vision to be the world’s leading door manufacturer that’s dedicated to creating a safer non-toxic world for our customers, staff, partners and the environment. I am proud to say that we have accomplished much of that vision and are now venturing ahead,” says a proud Jitendra Goyal.
And he has every reason to feel proud of his achievement as today, Dormak has established itself as India’s No. 1 premium door brand that is widely recognised for its focus on innovation and quality. Dormak has grown from being just a regional manufacturer to a global door solution provider. Dormak has the widest doors portfolio in the industry. It has the distinction of executing some of India’s most prestigious projects and has India’s one of the most advanced door manufacturing facilities.
Goyal is now targeting Rs.100 Crore revenue from Dormak with 20% sales from export business to be achieved by 2022. He also hopes to have 150 direct sales affiliates in all major cities and towns of India. He expects to achieve 30% of the brand’s sales from retail business.
Today, with its Corporate Office and Factory in Jaipur and Branches and Showrooms in cities like Delhi, Faridabad, Zirakpur, Junagarh (Gujarat), Bhubaneswar, Amritsar, DImapur (Nagaland), Kannur (Kerala), Visakhapatnam, Srinagar (Kashmir), and Jaipur, Dormak is well entrenched and poised to tap into its target market effectively and reach the next level of success.
