Chairs the $17 billion (revenues) Mahindra & Mahindra, an auto-to-aerospace conglomerate. The company, which has lately seen new entrants erode its dominance in sport utility vehicles, recently launched TUV 300 (a compact SUV) to beef up its market share. In July Mahindra and Airbus announced a joint venture to make helicopters in India. It is also building a $3,000 electric scooter designed in Silicon Valley that will be launched in San Francisco this month. Assets include a small but valuable holding in Kotak Mahindra Bank and a stake in Epic TV .
