Gulf-based retailer made a splash in July with the $170 million purchase of the iconic Scotland Yard building in London, which he plans to convert into a luxury hotel. He's also expanding his $6.5 billion (revenues) LuLu Group retailing empire of 119 hypermarkets, supermarkets and grocery outlets, and a dozen malls, with new stores in Africa, Southeast Asia and India. LuLu's food and beverage arm has the Indian franchises for American icecream parlor chain Cold Stone Creamery and for Famous Dave's barbecue restaurants.
Owner of an Embraer Legacy 600 jet, he's planning to buy a Gulfstream 550.
