Kapil Sharma’s (36) journey from humble beginnings in Amritsar to the top of the charts of entertainment television channels is hardly unknown to TV-loving Indians. While his rise has been meteoric—his second film Firangi released on December 1—there have been questions on whether he may have passed his peak. When his once-popular show Comedy Nights with Kapil was taken off air in 2016, Sharma managed to stay in the limelight with The Kapil Sharma Show, which was soon scripted and sent on air. But early this year, the second show too was pulled off air because of controversies he had with his peers.
