For someone who joined legendary music composer Illayaraja's troupe at the age of 11 and then went on to conquer the world with his music, the title of 'Mozart of Madras' speaks very little. Rahman, whom Time magazine listed among the 'World's 100 Most Influential People' in 2009, has revolutionised Indian film music over the last two decades. He is one of the highest-selling record artists of all time. His next project is Kadal, a Tamil film directed by Mani Ratnam, the man who gave him his first break in 1992.
Fast Facts : In 2012, Filmfare honoured Rahman by presenting him with its 2,500th trophy for best music in Rockstar.
