Ranked the No 3 doubles player in the world, Paes kicked off 2012 by winning the Chennai Open with Serbian partner Janko Tipsarevic and followed it up by bagging the Australian Open crown and Masters 1000 titles in Shanghai and Miami with Radek Stepanek. Paes also had a successful year in mixed doubles as he reached the final of the Australian Open as well as Wimbledon with Russian Elena Vesnina.
