He journeyed from being a highly successful pop artiste (with albums Naujawan, Q Funk, Tanha Dil and Aksar becoming a rage) to a very popular playback singer. Some of his acclaimed tracks include 'Chand Sifaarish', 'Jab Se Tere Naina' and 'Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh', all of which fetched him Filmfare Awards. In 2011, he lent his voice to the Hindi version of the animated Hollywood film Rio.
Fast Facts : In the 1989 movie Parinda, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Shaan crooned a line in the song ‘Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Hamari'.
