He made his debut in 1990, but was a struggling actor with secondary roles; he dubbed for films for nine years. A movie called Sethu by a debutant director changed it all. The movie became a big hit, and was followed by a string of hits such as Dhil, Dhool and Saamy. While he has received praise for his performance in his more recent movies, they haven't done well at the box-office.
