One of the finest limited overs batsmen of his generation spent most of last year away from the game, fighting cancer. The cricketing world was united in its celebration when he made a full recovery and we saw that high back lift send balls sailing over the mid-wicket boundary once more. Though he didn't play in the IPL, his contract with the Pune Warriors and ongoing endorsement deals meant he was able bring in solid income. The year 2012 wasn't about cricket or money though. Cancer transformed Yuvraj Singh as a person. His image has changed from a dashing young chap to a strong, empathic man doing his bit to raise awareness for a noble cause.
