Sania Mirza, India's most successful professional woman tennis player and currently ranked world No 1 in the women's doubles segment, had a phenomenal 2015, winning the Wimbledon and US Open Women's Doubles Championships with former Swiss star Martina Hingis. Mirza is the highest ranked female player from India ever, peaking at number 27 in women's singles in 2007. But a major wrist injury forced her to give up her singles career and focus on the doubles format. She also has her own tennis academy in her home town of Hyderabad.
